time to take a stand

I'm sick to death of finding "special offers" or multi-buy opportunities at Tesco which, on closer inspection, a rip off. Tesco's standard response is that these are mistakes. Do not be fooled, they know every cost, price and margin to the Nth degree and manipulate these to enhance their profits.

Trust me, my wife and I own an independent store and I know the margin and pricing on every item we have in stock. Tesco have teams working on this with huge data sources to analyse exactly where they can squeeze us. Ever noticed how they'll show a price per 100g on one product and a price per packet on the comparable product? Not a mistake. If your mental arithmetic isn't capable of quickly working out the difference and you've got 2 kids running in opposite directions and you just want to get home, you'll grab what "appears" to be the bargain. I I pretty much guarantee you that what appears to be the bargain is just that, an appearance and one cleverly engineered by Tesco.

It may only seem like a few pence difference if you buy 3 tins of sweetcorn separately rather than in the more expensive 3-pack. However, how many people every day, week and year buy this and how many tens or hundreds of thousands of pounds of profit does this represent? And that's just one product. Do this again and again, across thousands of products and add supposed "special offers" and they make millions of pounds of profit by taking us for fools.

Well, let's try and stop it. Every time I go to Tesco, I'm just about guaranteed to find a rip off. So, as I do find them, I'll post them on here. What I'd like is that you do the same and together we can stop being taken for granted, taken for idiots and taken for a ride.
